Association Montessori Internationale (AMI)
Maria Montessori developed the Montessori method of education in the 1920s. The Association Montessori Internationale is a child-centered and child-driven approach to education. AMI schools follow the original curriculum created by Dr. Montessori without any variations.
American Montessori Society (AMS)
Nancy McCormick Rambusch created the American Montessori Society in the 1960s. The AMS is like AMI except the Montessori methods accommodate American culture. AMS schools teach the Maria Montessori method while adding outside resources like computers, software, gadgets, etc.
Montessori Accreditation Council for Teacher Education (MACTE)
The Montessori Accreditation Council for Teacher Education is a specialized accreditation agency. MACTE focuses on Montessori programs and teacher education institutions throughout the United States.
National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE)
The National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education is a national accreditation agency. NCATE focuses on higher education certifications throughout the United States.
